At a time where quality control in crucial industries such as healthcare and food is emphasized, a UAE-based laboratory has won an international award for its services.
The 100 per cent Emirati-owned Geoscience Testing and Laboratory (GTL), a member of Prime Group of Companies, was recognized as the Best Microbiology Testing Facility in the UAE in the recent International Life Sciences Awards by the UK-based Global Health and Pharma (GHP) magazine.
Mr. Abdullatif Al Gargawi, Co-Founder and Chairman at Prime Group of Companies, said: “It has always been our mission to create a safer world for people through our services in the field of testing, inspection, certification and training for high-stake industries. This award only strengthens our rigor to continue serving our purpose.”
The award comes as the world faces a global pandemic that has put pressure on the health and safety of people.
GTL has observed a growing interest among businesses to comply with international standards of safety, particularly in the sanitation and hygiene sector.
The laboratory, having five facilities in the UAE, is approved and accredited by the government to conduct efficacy testing of hand sanitizers, hand scrubs, germicidal liquids and surface sanitizers. These are products that play a significant part in the efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Dr. Mary Jane Alvero – Al Mahdi, Group CEO at Prime Group of Companies, said: “We are very proud to be distinguished as the best in the field of microbiology testing in the UAE. And our goal goes above and beyond making individuals safe – we also empower industries to adapt to the evolving trends in quality assurance and regulatory requirements.”
Prime Group is involved in many industries across Asia, the Middle East and North Africa, providing companies with quality and compliance solutions.
Its subsidiary, the GTL, has evolved through the years from having a strong presence in the construction industry to being involved in healthcare and food.
The 5th edition of the International Life Sciences Awards comes at a crucial time to recognize game-changers in the industry – those who dedicate their professional lives in creating a safer world for all.
The UK-based GHP has highlighted the importance of companies in the life sciences sector, especially during these challenging times, paying tribute to innovators in medicine, infection control, and agriculture among others.
